Biden’s SOTU Promises Lower Costs, Attacks Trump Policies

President Biden addressed the nation promising lower junk fees, a continued commitment to supporting the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and criticism of former President Trump. The Thursday night address before Congress, gave President Biden the opportunity to speak to his supporters and gain the attention of those who criticize his administration and his ability to run the country.

During his address, President Biden often referred to his accomplishments compared his predecessor President Donald Trump but would not say his name.

“The state of the union is strong and getting stronger,” President Biden said in the televised address.

The President pledged to tackle the open border and help raise wages for teachers and lower college tuition by giving more money to students in federally funded Pell grants. The commander-in-chief pushed his stance on saving the middle class and making the wealthy pay their “fair share” of taxes.

Democratic supporters shouted “Four more years” while Republican opponents and critics booed the President. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who pledged her support for former President Trump by wearing a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap, yelled out the name of a victim who was killed by a migrant that entered the country through the open border.

Republican lawmakers have criticized the Biden administration for the open border, creating a crisis in numerous major cities struggling to house and feed them. President Biden’s health, and rising inflation was also questioned by Republicans who made speeches and posted online after the State of the Union address.
