Zayo Beefs Up Dark Fiber Business With 20-Year Deal
Fiber optic infrastructure provider Zayo Group Holdings, Inc., is teaming up with a global internet service provider to boost its dark fiber business. The company made the announcement in a press release, but declined to release the name of its new client. As a part of the 20-year deal, the new customer will consolidate services from legacy providers in Canada to Zayo and add additional network locations.
“Zayo’s unique Pan Canadian/U.S. capability and dense metro footprint enabled us to grow the relationship with this customer as they expand their global dark fiber networks,” Mike Strople, managing director, Canada at Zayo said in a statement. “Dark fiber provides them with the ability to scale as they grow.”
The company has been focused on global growth including expanding its customer base. During the summer of 2015, Zayo signed a deal with loud services provider Mitel, to create new cloud products for the Canadian market. As a part of the deal, Ottawa, Canada-based Mitel, will deliver its MiCloud solution product using Zayo’s Canadian communications infrastructure.
Zayo, who also offers a variety of services in the New York City market, provides managed firewall security services, monitoring and database management with storage and backup solutions. The company’s fiber footprint extends more than 81,500 route miles across the United States and Europe.
