Verizon Rolls Out Super Fast Fios For East Coast Customers

New York-based Verizon debuted a faster version of its Fios high speed internet. The new service, Fios Instant Internet, has equal upload and download speeds of 750 Mbps. Fios Instant Internet’s 750/750 Mbps symmetrical speeds will be available  to nearly seven million homes and businesses in greater New York City, northern New Jersey, Philadelphia and Richmond. The company will add more cities throughout the year.

“No Internet service provider has come close to offering upload and download speeds like these at such a massive scale as Fios Instant Internet,” Ken Dixon, president of Verizon’s consumer landline business said in a statement. “Ever since we decided to build the nation’s largest 100 percent fiber-to-the-home network 14 years ago, we’ve been saying that it is a future-proof technology. The future is now here with Fios Instant Internet.”

Verizon has been busy expanding its brand and boosting services over the past year. The company acquired LQD Wi-Fi and purchased Yahoo in a $4.7 billion deal. Verizon unveiled PopData on its My Verizon app, a new time-based 4G LTE data option that gives customers more options and control of their wireless plan.  Verizon recently enhanced its Washington D.C. network’s voice and wireless data capacity by 500 percent in order to handle the anticipated one million attendees for the inauguration for President-Elect Donald Trump on January 20.
