NYC Mayor Announces Vaccine Mandate [Video]

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a controversial citywide mandate that sent the internet and city residents in a frenzy. Mayor de Blasio announced Tuesday that the city is initiating a vaccine mandate for gyms, indoor restaurant dining, concert and performing arts venues. The Mayor said during his weekly press conference that in order to participate in the selected activities, a COVID-19 vaccine is mandatory effective August 16. New York City will also make sure businesses included in the mandate comply by enforcing the rules with fines and penalties by the end of September.

The tech industry has started its version of a vaccine mandate with Google and Facebook requiring all employees returning to the office to get complete vaccinations.

in addition to the vaccine mandate, businesses included under the new rule will be required to make sure all staff members are vaccinated. The Mayor did not disclose how long the rule will last. Watch the mayor’s remarks in the video below.
