Charter Communications Ranks Third on Vertical Systems Group’s U.S. Carrier Ethernet Leaderboard

Spectrum Enterprise, the enterprise services provided by Charter Communications, Inc., today announced it was ranked No. 3 on the Vertical Systems Group’s U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD for Mid-Year 2016. The Vertical Systems Group LEADERBOARD is the industry’s foremost benchmark for measuring Ethernet Service Provider market presence.

Charter joins the LEADERBOARD for the first time at third position based on aggregated ports from its May 2016 combination with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. At the end of 2015, Time Warner Cable was the top Cable MSO and ranked fifth on the U.S. LEADERBOARD, while Charter and Bright House Networks were in the Challenge Tier. Charter is now the largest Cable MSO provider of retail Ethernet services.
Charter is a known leader in the US Ethernet market, delivering Internet, Wide Area Network (WAN), and cellular back haul. Charter is also distinguished by having the most Metro Ethernet Forum Carrier Ethernet Certified professionals worldwide. The Metro Ethernet Forum is the global defining body for Carrier Ethernet and works to accelerate the worldwide adoption of carrier-class Ethernet networks and services.

“We’re proud and pleased to have secured this position on the Mid-Year 2016 Vertical Systems Group LEADERBOARD, especially given the competition in the marketplace,” Greg King, Senior Vice President, Spectrum Enterprise Product, Marketing and Strategy, Charter Communications said in a statement. “With the combination of Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Charter Ethernet networks, we can better serve enterprises with locations across the country. Our position on the LEADERBOARD demonstrates the trust that enterprises have placed in us, and we expect to build on this by bringing more flexible and scalable Ethernet solutions to market.”

“Charter’s combination with Time Warner Cable and Bright House elevates the company to a leadership position in the Ethernet market,” Rick Malone, Principal of Vertical Systems Group said. “The company is well positioned to leverage its greater scale, broader network reach and expertise to capitalize on emerging market opportunities.”
