Twitter Closes NYC Office Amid Covid Spike

San Francisco-based Twitter is shutting down its offices in New York City and sending staff to work remotely due to the national Covid-19 spike and fears of the spread of the stronger delta variant. The office closure which includes the big apple and San Francisco will be closed as the company “monitors the situation” Marketwatch reports.

That comes just two weeks after the social-media company reopened those offices from the pandemic shutdown. A Twitter spokesperson said the moves come “after careful consideration of the CDC’s updated guidelines, and in light of current conditions.” It is also pausing reopening plans for its other offices.

“We’re continuing to closely monitor local conditions and make necessary changes that prioritize the health and safety of our Tweeps,” the Twitter spokesperson said.

Previously Twitter announced it will allow workers to work remotely on a permanent basis, and had required proof of vaccination for employees returning to the office.
