Mamdani Takes NYC Top Job

Socialist political candidate Zohran Mamdani is now the Mayor of New York City. Mamdani was victorious in his mayoral campaign against challenger and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Guardian Angel and longtime city resident Curtis Sliwa. Mamdani , who captured the attention across the country for his connection to youth and ideas on free buses, had the most votes in the general election with 50.78% of the votes followed by Cuomo at 41.32% and Sliwa with 7.01% of New Yorkers voting. NYC Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the race in the months leading up to the election following low polling numbers and a Federal investigation into his administration earlier in 2025

During his acceptance speech, Mamdani said, “The future is in our hands.” His supporters cheered as he promised change for America’s largest city and a promise for better days for working New Yorkers and its immigrant population. Watch the video of his speech on our Tik Tock account @NYCWired.
