Google Express Delivery Now Available in NYC

New Yorkers will get a chance to skip long lines at local retailers after the daily commute. Google is expanding it’s delivery service to New York City and Long Island. According to digital site DNA.info, Google is rolling out its Google Express service in the area effective Wednesday, September 28. The service allows customers to shop at select retailers and grocery stores with speedy delivery. Among its list of participating retailers are Costco, L’OccitanePetSmart and Whole Foods.

Google Express is a direct competitor to web based on-demand delivery services like Amazon Prime Now and UberRush and Jet.com. The move to offer service in New York City could be profitable for Google since busy New Yorkers often use delivery services for food and groceries in the commuter town. Delivery services have an advantage since a large percentage of the population function with little or no use of cars. heavy items and a large grocery orders can be difficult to transport, even with bags and grocery carts. Consumers with pre-war buildings and walk-up buildings without elevators are targeted and tend to benefit from these services.

Fresh Direct and Instacart have large scale delivery routes across New York City with online and app ordering capabilities. As a part of its deal for new customers Google is offering a free three month trial to new subscribers. Google Express is charging $95 for annual memberships, but shoppers can pay per purchase, starting at $4.99 per order.
