Amazon is expanding its empire in New York City and around the globe. The online retail giant announced it will add thousands of jobs and build a new distribution facility on Staten Island. According to CNBC, about 2,000 advertising and fashion jobs will be added to its New York City offices making a total of more than 6,000 new jobs in New York state by 2019.

The Amazon Staten Island distribution center will boast 855,000 square feet and include advanced robotics. About 2,250 jobs will be filled at the facility.

“We are excited to bring our first fulfillment center to New York and work alongside the state’s incredible workforce,” said Sanjay Shah, Amazon’s Vice President of Customer Fulfillment. “The support of local leaders has been instrumental in our ability to come to New York, and we are grateful for the welcome we’ve received to bring thousands of new jobs with benefits starting on day one.”

Amazon has a large business footprint in New York City. The company previously expanded its Amazon Locker pickup locations at retail locations, opened a retail store with music and books in Midtown and expanded its Amazon Web Services offices to allow free work spaces for startups in New York City.
