Rutgers, Newark VC’s Promote NYC Minority Tech Startups At SXSW [VIDEO]

Rutgers Business School, Newark Venture Partners and Venture Capitalists from the New York City area traveled to Texas for the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) festival to promote minority tech startups. The group participated in panels and shed light on the problems with minority startup funding and the lack of support for new businesses looking for funding led by minorities.

Members from the startup community in the New York / New Jersey area also traveled to speak about experiences and highlight the value of minority funded startups in the tech industry.

Prior to heading to SXSW, New Jersey-based venture capitalists and Rutgers University’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CUEED), hosted a Black and Latino Tech Initiative Launch (BLT) on March 2. The free event was held at Newark Venture Partners offices. The event featured networking, advice and a chance to learn about funding programs for startups.
