TurnSyle Shopping Beefs Up Traffic At Columbus Circle Subway Hub
New York City unveiled the face lift for its 59th Street Columbus Circle and trendy shopping marketplace, Turnstyle. Shopping, food and coffee can all be grabbed on the way to New York City’s subway system. The station serves as a major hub for subway riders on the upper west side sitting adjacent to Central Park.
Shopping near the subway hub is not a new venture. The Time Warner Center with the shops at Columbus Circle sits above ground, just above the subway. For years the shopping plaza has offered stores including H&M, J. Crew, Sephora, Whole Foods, restaurants and more.
Turnstyle fills in the gap below ground near the subway entrance, where the above ground shops fall short. Subway riders, which often includes NYC tourists from around the globe, have access to shopping including Starbucks, Lush, Papyrus, sunglasses seller Specs and pet store Dog & Co.
The underground shopping hub also offers some additional eateries and treats in addition to its collection of retail and kiosk offerings. Food and snack choices include The Pizza, Georgia’s Bakery, Dylan’s Candy Bar, and Bosie Patisserie – to name a few.
Turnstyle is a reminder of the eateries and shopping at 34h Street’s Penn Station. The 34th Street transit hub which includes the Long Island Railroad, will undergo a $2 billion renovation to fix aging infrastructure of the station which includes a portion of Madison Square Garden which sits above the station. The renovations at Penn Station are rumored to be completed over the next three years.
